A Howell County man has been arrested on a Baxter County warrant charging him with two counts of rape. Being held in the Baxter County Detention Center is 38-year-old Corey Evvan Cauthen of rural West Plains. He was arrested last week in Ozark County and extradited to Baxter County Tuesday.

The judge in the case has ordered the case files sealed, meaning no details can be released.

The statute Cauthen is charged with states the rape occurred with someone incapable of consent, with a person under the age of 14, or with a minor where the accused is in position of trust or specific family relation.

Cauthen is also being held for non-payment of child support. Court records show he is in arrears $13,036. He is supposed to be paying $501 a month plus another $100 towards the arrearages, but he hasn’t made any payments since June of 2021. That was as of the latest court filing in Sept. of 2023.

Cauthen is being held on bonds totaling $251,500.

Cauthen has one other court case still active in Missouri. He was cited by the Missouri State Highway Patrol last September for operating a vehicle without a valid license. That case is still working its way through the court system.
