Ash Wednesday, which marks the traditional beginning of Lent, falls on February 18th this year. The Presbyterian Church of Bull Shoals will be offering imposition of ashes and a free cup of coffee at Blackbird Coffeehouse from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bull Shoals, AR – February 6, 2026 – Ash Wednesday is a tradition across many Catholic and Protestant denominations, marking the first of 40 days of Lent. It is a season of reflection, repentance, and spiritual preparation leading up to Easter. The ashes—usually made by burning the palm branches from the previous year’s Palm Sunday—are placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross.
We recognize that in this busy world, many will not have time or opportunity to attend an Ash Wednesday church service, and so the Presbyterian Church of Bull Shoals will be offering its second annual “Ashes to Go” event. All are welcome to stop by Blackbird Coffeehouse, 505 Hillcrest Avenue in Bull Shoals (directly across from the Food Pantry) for a free cup of coffee and imposition of ashes.
