
Black then got into real estate in 1987 where he spent 31 years helping clients. He went to work for the former Blackburn Real Estate Company and also worked for the former Gilbert Realty Company.
Black would open his own real estate company, Larry Black & Associates, in 1998. The first location was at the corner of Main and 9th Streets. He then moved to his location at the corner of U.S. Business Highway 62 West and Bomber Boulevard in 2000. His business stayed there until the end of 2018 when he retired.

William Lawrence “Larry” Black, 74, of Mountain Home passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Mountain Home. He was born in Crossett, Arkansas to Dr. Dewitt and Katherine (Patton) Black. Larry built a life defined by his voice, his work ethic, and his love of the outdoors.
Many in the community will remember Larry’s early career as a disc jockey for KTLO where he was a familiar voice on the airwaves. He later transitioned into real estate, a field he dedicated himself to for 32 years. As the owner and operator of Larry Black & Associates Real Estate Company, Larry was a respected fixture in the local business community until his retirement in 2018.
In his retirement years, Larry found his greatest joy on his ranch. He cherished the peacefulness of the outdoors, whether he was riding his RTV, operating his tractor, working cattle or feeding the local wildlife. A man of many interests, he also enjoyed the hands-on work of restoring old cars and trucks. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, his son, Colby and his two loyal blue heelers, Sweetie and Sassy.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Darrah Black; his sons, Colby Black and Justin Dodd; his daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Elmore; five grandchildren, Riley and Kylinn Black, Tristan, Austin and Mason Elmore; two brothers, Dewitt (Rikki) Black III and Dr. John Patton “Pat” (Rhonda) Black. Larry is preceded in death by his son, Christoper Black; and his parents, Dr. Dewitt Black, Jr. and Katherine (Patton) Black.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m., until 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Cotter, Arkansas. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Buford under the direction of Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
