
Championship spots are on the line Friday as district basketball tournaments continue across the area.
In the 1A-2 Senior Boys District Tournament, top-seed Calico Rock will face host and third-seed Concord in the championship game at 7:30. On the girls side, No. 1 West Side will take on No. 3 Viola at 6.
At the 3A-2 District Tournament, top-seed Flippin meets fifth-seed Cave City at 5:15, with the winner advancing to the championship. In the other boys semifinal, No. 2 Melbourne will face No. 3 Bergman at 7:45.
For the girls, top-seed Mountain View takes on fifth-seed Valley Springs at 4, followed by 2-seed Melbourne against 3-seed Bergman at 6:30.
The Izard County Cougars defeated the Cedar Ridge Timber Timberwolves, 58-55, to advance to the finals of the 2A-2 District Tournament. The Cougars (15-12) were led by Benaiah Spray with 26 points and Sebastion Robbins with 17.
In the 1A-1 District Tournament, the third-seed Lead Hill girls will play second-seed Kingston at 7. Lead Hill’s boys, the top seed, will face fourth-seed Kingston at 5:30. Winners will advance to their respective championship games.
