
After a week off the Bombers and Lady Bombers were back in action for their regular season road finale on Friday night in Alma.
The night began with the Lady Bombers taking the court against the Airedales. In a back-and-forth first quarter Mountain Home would scratch and claw their way to a 19-18 lead after the first quarter. Mountain Home would extend the lead to 8 in the second quarter to take a 36-28 lead into the halftime break. Mountain Home would hold Alma to single digits in the 3rd quarter and propel themselves to a 52-37 lead heading into the final stanza. Mountain Home would extend the lead to as big as 27 but would not get to the Arkansas Activities Association sportsmanship rule, but would finish off the 73-48 victory on Friday night.
Mountain Home had 4 players in double figures in scoring, led by Livi Fosness with 19 points. Brooklynn Mitchell added 18, Jayla Yonkers had 14 points, and Lauren Rauls chipped in 11 points.
Mountain Home improves to 21-6 and 11-1 in 5A-west play.
In other girls action Farmington defeated Russellville 78-40, Greenwood beat Siloam Springs 76-47, and Harrison upset Van Buren 46-36.
The Bomber boys would hit the hardwood to cap off the night.
Mountain Home would hit a small flurry of threes and take a 16-15 lead after the first quarter. Alma’s offense would wake up in the second quarter outscoring the Bombers in a shootout 25-17 to take a 40-33 lead into the halftime break. Alma would hold Mountain Home to single digits in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Bombers 20-9 and, after a little chippiness, would head to the final quarter with a 60-42 lead. Mountain Home would cut the lead down to 11 but would get no closer as Alma would defeat the Bombers 79-60.
Mountain Home was led in scoring by Jackson Corp with 22 points. Drew Haney added 11 of his own.
Mountain Home falls to 15-13 and 7-5 in the 5A-west.
In other boys action Farmington drilled Russellville 83-36, Van Buren ran past Harrison 78-41, and Siloam defeated Greenwood 67-38.
Mountain Home’s final two regular season games will be in The Hangar, beginning with Farmington on Tuesday.
