U.S. Senator for Arkansas John Boozman praised President Donald Trump’s policy agenda Tuesday night following the president’s State of the Union address, highlighting tax relief, national security and rural investment as priorities for Arkansas.
In a statement issued after the speech, Boozman said the Republican agenda is helping Arkansans keep more of their paychecks while strengthening national security and protecting communities from crime and drugs.
“We are working closely with the Trump administration, delivering on these priorities through the Working Families Tax Cuts and other policies that reduce burdensome regulations, unleash domestic energy and support those defending us at home and abroad,” Boozman said.
He also credited Trump’s leadership with securing what he described as a “once in a generation investment” benefiting families who “feed, fuel and clothe the world,” adding that he will continue efforts to support rural America.
Tuesday marked Trump’s first official State of the Union address of his second term. Presidents traditionally deliver a joint address to Congress during their first year in office before giving a formal State of the Union in subsequent years.
During the one hour and 47 minute speech, the longest State of the Union address on record, Trump pointed to economic gains and highlighted his administration’s role in international conflicts.
