Farmington Sweeps Mountain Home

It was basketball time in The Hangar once again for the Bombers and Lady Bombers.

The night began with a top 5 matchup in class 5A as the Lady Bombers, winners of 7 straight, took on the undefeated in 5A-west play Farmington Cardinals.

Farmington sprinted out of the gates and took a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. Mountain Home would cut into the lead but it would get no closer than 6 as Farmington would take a 37-27 lead into the halftime break. Mountain Home would get outscored 16-11 in the 3rd quarter and would trail 53-38. Mountain Home would cut the lead to single digits but would get no further as Farmington would wrap up the 68-56 victory.

Mountain Home’s Jayla Yonkers and Lauren Rauls each chipped in 16 points. Livi Fosness added 11.

Mountain Home falls to 21-7 overall and 11-2 in 5A-west play. The Lady Bombers are locked into the #2 seed in the 5A state tournament and will await their opponent.

In other 5A-west girls action Greenwood defeated Russellville 67-53, Harrison upset Siloam Springs 50-48, and Van Buren beat Alma 56-46.

Mountain Home’s boys would take center stage as they would take on Farmington in the nightcap. The first quarter was an offensive struggle for both sides as Farmington would take a 13-8 advantage after the first quarter. Mountain Home would be held to single digits in the 2nd quarter as they would be outscored 17-7 and trail 30-15 at halftime. Farmington would extend their lead by 4 to lead the Bombers by 19, taking a 49-30 in the final stanza. Mountain Home would explode for 28 points in the final quarter and cut the lead down to 8 but would not get closer and Farmington would escape with a 68-58 victory.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Bailor Tate with 17 points. Rhett Gilbert added 15.

Mountain Home falls to 15-14 and 7-6 in the 5A-west and will find out their playoff fate on Friday.

In other 5A-west action Alma defeated Van Buren 78-65, Greenwood beat Russellville 71-45, and Siloam trucked Harrison 63-23.

Mountain Home will wrap up the regular season on Friday against Greenwood.
