Arkansas softball coach Courtney Deifel reached a career milestone Thursday evening at Bogle Park, picking up her 400th career win as the Razorbacks run-ruled Omaha 10-2 in five innings.
Deifel now holds a 400-207 career record in 12 years as a collegiate head coach, including a 373-180 mark in 11 seasons at Arkansas. The Razorbacks improve to 14-1 on the season with 10 run-rule victories and have now won 12 straight, tied for the third-longest winning streak in program history.
Omaha took an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the first inning, but Arkansas responded with three solo shots of its own from Dakota Kennedy, Tianna Bell, and Brinli Bain to take a 3-1 lead. Ramsey Walker added another solo homer in the second, and back-to-back singles from Kailey Wyckoff and Atalyia Rijo pushed the lead to 6-1 in the third. After Omaha cut it to four in the fourth, Arkansas put the game away with a four-run bottom of the fourth.
Bell finished 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bain went 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored, and an RBI. Rijo drove in three runs on a pair of singles.
Robyn Herron was dominant in the circle, improving to 7-0 after striking out 11 and allowing just two solo home runs over five innings. It was her 14th career double-digit strikeout game, tied for second all-time in program history.
