
In his final home game as a Razorback, senior Trevon Brazile scored a career-high 28 points while Darius Acuff Jr. recorded a historic performance to lead No. 20/19 Arkansas to a 105-85 victory over Texas Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena.
Brazile made his first six shots of the night, including three 3-pointers, and finished 9-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 7-of-8 at the free-throw line. He also added seven rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.
Acuff finished with 28 points and tied his career-high with 13 assists, becoming the only high-major player in the NCAA this season to record a 28-point, 13-assist game. He went 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 8-of-10 from the line while posting his 20th 20-point game of the season. The performance marked his fifth double-double of the year, setting a school record for the most point-assist double-doubles in a season. He also became the first Razorback on record to tally at least 24 points and 10 assists in a game.
Arkansas took control early, opening the game on a 19-4 run as Texas did not score its sixth point until the 13:34 mark of the first half. The Razorbacks carried a 22-point lead into halftime and maintained at least a 15-point advantage throughout the entire second half.
D.J. Wagner added 13 points, his highest scoring output since posting 14 against James Madison on Dec. 29, while Meleek Thomas also scored 13.
Billy Richmond III saw his six-game streak of 20-point performances come to an end with eight points, but contributed a career-high nine rebounds and tied career-bests with three blocked shots and three steals.
Texas was led by Matas Vokietaitis, who finished with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Dailyn Swain added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Arkansas closes the regular season Saturday at Missouri, with tipoff scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) in Columbia. The game will be televised on ESPN.
