A Wabash man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a 2023 shooting in Elaine that resulted in the death of an unborn child.

According to authorities, 23-year-old Treyton Russell pleaded guilty Monday, March 2, 2026, to second-degree murder and first-degree battery as part of a plea agreement.

Russell was sentenced to 15 years for the murder charge and 15 years for the battery charge, with the court ordering the sentences to run concurrently in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

The charges stem from an April 2023 shooting in which Parneisha Slater, 30, who was about 25 weeks pregnant, and Sandy Williams, 38, were shot multiple times through the window of their apartment on Oak Street in Elaine.

Both victims were airlifted to Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis. A child who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting was not injured.

Slater’s unborn daughter, Paisley, did not survive injuries from the gunshot wound. The death of the unborn child resulted in the murder charge filed against Russell.

The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division during the investigation.

Russell was arrested April 9, 2023, at his home in Wabash, where he was initially charged with two counts of first-degree battery.
