Lady Bombers advance to 2nd round, Bombers struck down by GCT

The Bomber and Lady Bomber basketball teams took part in the 2026 Class 5A state basketball tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Bombers took on Greene County Tech and the Lady Bombers taking on Valley View.

The afternoon began with the Bomber boys taking on Greene County Tech for a fourth time this season. In this case the stakes could not be higher. Mountain Home came out of the gates firing, getting out to an 8-2 lead but Tech would rally and score the final 7 points of the quarter to take a 9-8 lead into the 2nd quarter. Tech would stretch the lead to 4, outscoring Mountain Home 13-10 in the second stanza, to enter the halftime break with a 22-18 lead. Mountain Home would go on a run and lead by as much as 6 in the 3rd quarter and would head to the final 8 minutes tied at 37 with Greene County Tech. The Bombers would go ice cold from the field in the final quarter only mustering up 7 points and dropping the contest 53-44.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Jackson Corp with 12 points. Drew Haney added 10, Satch Cheek notched in 10 points of his own. and Rhett Gilbert added 6.

Mountain Home ends their season with a record of 16-15.

The Lady Bombers would take the court, taking on Valley View. In their previous meeting in December the Lady Bombers were victorious by the score of 61-50.

Mountain Home would wear the net out from beyond the arc hitting their first three 3-pointers of the game and going 4-7 to begin the contest to take a 19-11 lead into the second quarter. Valley View would tie the Lady Bombers in the second quarter 11-11. But would still trail 30-22 into the halftime break. Mountain Home would take flight, nearly doubling their score in the third period to take a 56-38 lead into the final quarter. Mountain Home would empty the bench two thirds of the way into the final quarter to finish off the 67-53 lead.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Brooklynn Mitchell with 24 points. Livi Fosness added 16 points, Jayla Yonkers chipped in 15, and Laken Anderson scored 11.

Mountain Home improves to 23-7 on the season and will take on Vilonia on Friday at 7:00 p.m. from Cardinal Arena in Farmington.
