A Little Rock veteran who previously faced homelessness and health challenges has received a refurbished vehicle to help him maintain stability and continue working.

According to the National Auto Body Council, U.S. Army veteran Logan Woodson was presented with a 2017 Toyota Camry during a ceremony at Joe Hudson’s Collision Center on South University Avenue in Little Rock.

The vehicle was donated through the council’s Recycled Rides Program, which brings together businesses in the collision repair industry to repair and donate vehicles to individuals in need of reliable transportation.

The Camry was donated by Farmers Insurance and restored by technicians at Joe Hudson’s Collision Center.

Woodson was nominated for the program by Scars and Stripes, Inc., a nonprofit organization that works to support veterans by addressing the challenges they face.

After the death of his wife, Woodson experienced homelessness before eventually securing stable housing with the help of partner agencies. However, health complications and the loss of reliable transportation led to him losing his job as a cook with the Salvation Army and facing the possibility of homelessness again.

Program officials say the donated vehicle will help Woodson improve his employment opportunities and maintain long-term stability.

“I’m not one for a lot of words, but I’m truly grateful for people like Farmers Insurance, Scars and Stripes, Joe Hudson’s, and the NABC,” Woodson said. “This vehicle is going to help me do what I truly enjoy doing, and that’s cooking.”

Since the Recycled Rides Program began in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 3,750 vehicles valued at approximately $67 million to individuals and families in need.
