A Shirley man is facing multiple felony charges following a countywide sex offender compliance check conducted in Stone County.
According to an affidavit from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Allen K. Godfrey of Shirley is charged with pandering or possessing visual or print medium depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, and possession of firearms by certain persons.
Authorities say the charges stem from a compliance check conducted Feb. 24 by Stone County deputies, the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and the Mountain View Police Department. Officers arrived at Godfrey’s residence on Highway 263 to verify his registration status.
During the investigation, officers reportedly discovered multiple electronic devices that had not been registered, including phones, a gaming system and a computer. Investigators say those devices contained applications commonly used to communicate with children.
Authorities also reported finding two firearms, ammunition and drug paraphernalia at the residence. Because Godfrey has multiple prior felony convictions, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Investigators further reported locating a photograph of a prepubescent female engaged in a sexual act with Godfrey, which led to the child pornography-related charge.
Prosecutors have also filed a habitual offender enhancement, alleging Godfrey has four or more prior felony convictions, which could increase potential penalties if he is convicted.
Bond is set at $100,000.
