The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a new scam where residents are receiving text messages claiming they have outstanding violations associated with their vehicle. These messages include a link to a website requesting payment, which is fraudulent. Some of the phone numbers sending these messages appear to be from outside the United States.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Office says if you receive a text message like this, do not click the link, do not reply to the message and block the number.
