The Hackler Elementary archery team finished sixth out of 30 teams this past weekend at the Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program (ANASP) State Bullseye Tournament in Hot Springs.
ANASP, administered through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, is the state’s version of the National Archery in the Schools Program and teaches Olympic-style archery to students across Arkansas.
The Hackler team, made up of fourth- and fifth-grade students, set a new program high with a score of 2,868 nearly 200 points higher than its previous best. Team scores are determined using the top four girls’ scores, the top four boys’ scores and the next four highest scores for a total of 12 scoring participants.
A total of 22 Hackler students competed in the tournament, with 13 archers recording personal-best scores during the event.
The top 12 scorers for Hackler at the state tournament were Addy Young, Aaliyah Barnes, Charlie Menschik, Lilly Williams, Kristi-Anne Dye, Eli Foster, Grady McAninch, Isabel O’Grady, Mallorey Story, Alice Smith, Wyatt Davis and Greyson Rose.
The team is coached by Cheyenne Hollenbach, Mike Andrews and Dustin Rose.
