Arkansas freshman Darius Acuff Jr. has been named a first-team All-American by The Sporting News.

Acuff joins Corliss Williamson (1995) as the only Razorbacks to earn first-team All-America honors from the publication.

The unanimous SEC Player of the Year is on pace to join LSU legend Pete Maravich as the only players in SEC history to lead the league in both scoring and assists in the same season. Acuff is currently averaging 22.1 points and 6.4 assists per game.

He is also the only player in the NCAA averaging at least 20 points and six assists this season.

Acuff has recorded 20 or more points and at least five assists in 16 games this year, the most by a Division I player this season. He also has five games with at least 20 points and 10 assists, the second-most by a freshman in NCAA history behind Oklahoma’s Trae Young.

According to OptaSTATS, Acuff is the only player in NCAA history to record at least 20 points per game, five assists per game, shoot 40% from three-point range and maintain a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in a single season.

In addition to his All-America honor from The Sporting News, Acuff has received numerous postseason accolades, including SEC Player of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year honors from both the conference coaches and The Associated Press. He is also a finalist for both the John R. Wooden Award and the Bob Cousy Award.
