Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joined Erika Kirk of Turning Point USA on Wednesday to announce a partnership aimed at bringing Club America chapters to high schools across the state.
The announcement came during a Turning Point USA pep rally at Arkansas Christian Academy, where students celebrated the launch of the school’s new Club America chapter.
Sanders said the program is intended to encourage civic engagement and leadership among students while promoting the principles of faith, freedom and American founding ideals.
Turning Point USA was founded in 2012 by conservative activist Charlie Kirk and has grown into one of the country’s largest youth political organizations focused on educating students about free markets and limited government.
After the school event, Sanders and Kirk held a press conference at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, where the governor signed a proclamation expressing support for the organization and encouraging Arkansas high schools and colleges to support student-led civic groups.
Turning Point USA officials say the Club America program allows students to organize chapters at their schools focused on civic dialogue, leadership development and engagement with American political principles.
The organization currently operates on more than 3,500 campuses nationwide, including over 1,200 high school Club America chapters.
State leaders and Turning Point USA representatives say the new partnership aims to expand the program throughout Arkansas and provide students with additional opportunities to participate in civic leadership activities.
