Three protesters were arrested Wednesday afternoon following an incident outside the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, according to Arkansas State Police.

State police said the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. when protesters confronted attendees leaving an event at the mansion.

Authorities said troopers attempted to de-escalate the situation when two officers were allegedly assaulted during the confrontation.

Two women and one man were taken into custody. Officials said the women will face charges of second-degree battery, while the man is expected to be charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.

Police reported that one trooper was injured during the incident, but no civilians reported injuries.

The event at the mansion featured Sarah Huckabee Sanders signing a proclamation alongside Erika Kirk of Turning Point USA in support of establishing Club America chapters at Arkansas high schools.

State police said approximately 30 protesters were gathered outside the mansion, with about 10 in the immediate area where the alleged assault occurred.

The situation remains under investigation. Officials say additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
