Several area baseball and softball teams were in action Thursday with a number of local matchups across north central Arkansas.
In baseball, Flippin picked up an 11-9 win over Yellville-Summit. The Bobcats improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Panthers fell to 1-2.
Valley Springs defeated Green Forest 7-1, and Cotter posted a pair of wins over Mountainburg. The Warriors won the first game 10-0 before taking the second contest 12-6 to improve to 5-1 on the year.
Elsewhere, Calico Rock fell to Concord 17-0.
In softball action, Mountain View dropped a tight 1-0 decision to Cave City.
Melbourne cruised to a 15-1 victory over Viola, while Cotter suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Elkins 10-7 to move to 3-1.
Yellville-Summit improved to 3-0 with a 4-2 win over Flippin, which dropped to 0-3.
Calico Rock also picked up a win, defeating Concord 9-1.
