A new statue honoring women veterans has been commissioned for installation on the Veterans Plaza 2000 in Mountain Home and the group behind the effort is seeking donors to make the tribute a reality.
The proposed bronze statue will feature a female service member in a kneeling position holding a folded American flag and is planned for completion in 2027. Leading the effort is the Military Service Sisters, a female led veteran group formed in Mountain Home in 2017, which supports over 20,000 female veterans in Arkansas.
Member Hollie Scoma says making space to honor the sacrifices made by women is why the group decided to pursue the memorial’s installation.
