A dive team Saturday recovered the body of a Beebe man Saturday night after he fell into a lake at a park in Newport.
According to the Newport Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:41 Saturday evening to Lockwood Park after receiving a report of a man who had fallen into the lake.
When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the victim and requested assistance from the Independence County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.
The dive team responded and later recovered 52-year-old Dewayne Dates of Beebe from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say no foul play is suspected in the incident.
