A man wanted for sexual abuse of a child in Texas has been arrested in Izard County. According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified by agents with the Arkansas State Police Thursday regarding 55-year-old David Charles Jones of Melbourne, informing them a warrant had been issued for his arrest out of Montague County, Texas March 31.Law enforcement received information that Jones might be traveling on Arkansas State Highway 9 south of Melbourne.
Deputies responded and located his vehicle near the Twin Creek area. The vehicle turned on Mt. Olive road where the deputies conducted a traffic stop. Jones was detained without incident while waiting for the arrival of Arkansas State Police agents.
Jones is being held in the Izard County Jail pending extradition to Montague County, Texas.
