Nestled along the Arkansas-Missouri border in Fulton County, Mammoth Spring State Park is home to one of the largest natural springs in the United States.
The spring produces nearly nine million gallons of water per hour, forming a 10-acre crystal-clear pool that flows into the trout-rich Spring River. The area has long attracted visitors, anglers and paddlers drawn to its natural beauty.
In the late 1800s, Mammoth Spring became a center of early industry in north Arkansas. A hydroelectric plant built in 1890 one of the first in the region helped power nearby communities and businesses.
Railroad access also played a key role in the area’s growth, bringing tourists to the spring and turning it into a popular destination.
Today, visitors can explore historic features of the park, including the 1886 Frisco train depot and remnants of the original power plant and mill.
Mammoth Spring State Park remains one of Arkansas’s most unique landmarks, combining scenic views with a deep historical legacy.
