A longtime community tradition returns Saturday as the Go Hog Wild barbecue raises funds for the Cotter-Gasville Rural Fire Protection District, helping fill critical funding gaps for equipment and operations.
The event, set for Saturday from 11 to 3 at Station 1 in Cotter, features pulled pork meals, auctions and raffles. Plates are $10 for adults, with discounted pricing for children. 100 pork buts have been smoked and 50 will be available for purchase. Retired Chief and Commission Treasurer Jay Dukes is in charge of the “secret” SHO-NUFF BUTT RUB that is used to season the pork before smoking for an entire day.

Fire Chief Jimmy Morgan said proceeds are essential, noting that outfitting a single firefighter can cost around $12,000.
