NEXT Powered by NAEC is bringing back it’s Fuel the Future initiative and is asking local businesses to join them in paying down local school lunch debts.
Last year NEXT started the program by awarding 12 local schools each $1000 towards the payment of outstanding lunch room balances. As the group met this year the idea was born to give local businesses a chance to help to relieve the financial stress on families so that students can stay focused on their education.
Courtney Varner, Director of Marketing and Business Development for NEXT, says businesses can select the schools they want to support.

Some schools in the area have free school lunches so there are other areas that donations can be made towards while still ensuring students stay fed.

Pledges for the program are due by May 1 and Varner says organizations that meet a threshold will have additional opportunities to participate.
Listen:
Check presentations will be made in May to the schools. The 12 schools to receive funds are Mountain Home, Cotter, Salem, Calico Rock, Cave City, Highland, Hillcrest, Izard County, Mammoth Spring, Melbourne, Norfork and Viola.
