Hertzog homers twice as Trailblazers fall in doubleheader

JD Hertzog hit two home runs and drove in three runs, but the ASUMH Trailblazers dropped both games of a doubleheader to South Arkansas College Thursday in El Dorado.

In game one, ASUMH fell 13-3. Hertzog provided the offense with a solo home run in the third and a two-run shot in the fifth.

South Arkansas jumped out early with a three-run homer in the first and added to the lead with multiple home runs throughout the game.

Keaton Matlick took the loss, allowing six runs over three innings.

In game two, ASUMH struggled to keep pace in a 15-1 loss.

Ryder McClain accounted for the Trailblazers’ lone run with a solo home run in the fifth.

Sloan Foster started on the mound and allowed nine runs over four innings in the loss.

ASUMH managed five hits in the second game, with Hertzog, McClain, Jett Hannaford, Broc Mattox and Rylan Jones each recording one.

South Arkansas collected 29 hits combined in the doubleheader and used big early innings in both games to secure the sweep.

The Trailblazers will return to El Dorado to continue the series Friday.
