
Multiple charges have been filed against the driver of the car involved in an accident in Ozark County late Thursday night that injured her and her five-year-old female passenger, both of Gainesville. Thirty-year-old Destiny Bearden was arrested at the Cox Medical Center South, where she and the girl were taken following the crash, and she was released for medical treatment.The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Bearden is facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated with injury along with misdemeanor charges of careless and imprudent driving, failure to restrain a child in a child restraint and not having insurance.
According to the accident report, the crash happened when the vehicle left the right side of the road, struck a fence, overturned and came to rest on its top. The girl was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The girl was airlifted to Cox South while the woman was transported by ambulance to the Springfield hospital.
The accident happened on County Road 503, two miles south of Gainesville at 11:00 Thursday night.
