Arkansas Lt. Governor Tim Griffin was in Mountain Home this week to speak to the recipients of the Baxter County Single Parent Scholarship Fund. Griffin told the recipients they were being rewarded for their hard work. He told them when they have more opportunities, their children will have more opportunities.

Afterwards, he spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News. Since taking office in 2015, Griffin has led two task force initiatives at the request of Governor Hutchinson, one on Common Core and the second reviewing the state Department of Human Services. After the review, he called for the agency to overhaul its structure to better serve its clients.

Now, the first-term Lt. Governor says he’s focusing on efficiency in government.

Griffin says he thinks the decision of the task force is a mistake but hopes good things will come for tax reform despite the move.
