Cotter High School teams swept at Mammoth Spring

Cotter’s high school basketball teams were swept at Mammoth Spring on Tuesday.
The Warriors lost the boys’ game to the Bears by a score of 46-33. Mammoth Spring was led by Sagen Godwin with 21 points. The Bears improve to 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in the 2A/1A-3, and they will play Deer in the Arvest Bank Tournament quarterfinals at Flippin Wednesday at 5:15.
Cotter also fell to Mammoth Spring in the girls’ contest 66-40. Whitlee Layne was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 25 points, Brianna Hocum finished with 12, and Lauren Mitchell chipped in 11. Mammoth Spring remains unbeaten in ten games on the year and is 1-0 in district play, and their next game at Flippin will be Thursday at 6:30 against Jasper.

Calico Rock had one win in three games against Izard County at Brockwell.
The Lady Pirates had the lone victory as they defeated the Lady Cougars 54-40. Harley Thomason led Izard County with 15 points, and Laney Rider ended up with 13.
The senior boys’ game needed double overtime to decide a winner, but Calico Rock came up short as they fell to Izard County 53-49. The Pirates were led by Brendan Sneathern with 14 points, and Clayton Snyder added 13. For the Cougars, Justus Cooper scored 27 points, and Caleb Faulkner had 15. Izard County is now 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the 2A/1A-3.
The evening began with Calico Rock’s junior boys losing to Izard County 42-27. Coby Everett was the Junior Cougars’ leading scorer with 22 points, and Chase Orf chipped in ten. Izard County improves to 7-0 and 1-0.

The Mountain Home freshmen girls were victorious in their opener in the Cure CMD Tournament at Bentonville West High School in Centerton. The Junior Lady Bombers defeated Heritage 56-30. Addison Yates scored 16 points for Mountain Home. The Junior Lady Bombers are 4-0 on the season.

Mountain Home’s eighth graders were back in Branson for the consolation semifinals of the Pirate Classic. The Eighth Grade Bombers beat the host school’s B team 24-9. Mountain Home will play for the consolation championship Thursday evening against Marshfield.

Mountain Home Christian Academy had mixed results with two basketball games Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles had their first varsity game of the season as they edged out the Prism Education Center 38-36. Naomi Spray paced Mountain Home Christian with 17 points, and Hayley Woods provided 13.
It was a different result in the junior varsity boys’ contest as Mountain Home Christian fell to Christian Ministry Academy 51-48. The J.V. Eagles were led by Stone Robinson with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Trenton Cox had 13 points.
