Sweet potatoes will be on the menu at the Boone County jail after three inmates participated in the Cross County sweet potato harvest. Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore says an officer took the 309 State Inmates to Cross County this week and returned with over 5640 pounds of the sweet spuds which will be served at the jail for inmate meals.
The only cost to the sheriff’s department was the fuel for the trip and overnight accommodations for the officer. The inmates were housed at the Cross County jail overnight.
