The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team began the Class 6A State Tournament on a winning note Wednesday in West Memphis. Matt Sharp has the details.
Listen:
The Lady Bombers’ opening round game ended with a 37-27 victory over Benton. It was not a high-scoring game. That was even more so the case for the Lady Panthers as they were held without a single field goal in the second quarter. In addition, Benton had several more turnovers than Mountain Home. The Lady Bombers pulled even further away scoring the first nine points of the final period. The Lady Panthers cut the margin back to ten, but by then, there wasn’t enough time left on the clock.
Hannah Pfiefer led Mountain Home with 12 points. For Benton, Makenzy Davidson scored 11.
The Lady Panthers’ season ends at 15-14. The Lady Bombers improve to 15-15 on the year, and they’ll meet Greenwood in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon at 4:00.
