A red flag warning has been issued from 11:00 Tuesday morning until 6:00 Tuesday evening for Baxter, Marion, Fulton, Boone, Searcy and Newton counties in North Central Arkansas. The warning is in effect for all of southern Missouri from 9:00 Tuesday morning until 6:00 Tuesday evening. The combination of high winds, high temperatures and low relative humidity across the Twin Lakes Area means any type of fire could be hazardous. A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will occur soon.

Winds will increase to up to 25 to 30 miles-per-hour Tuesday, with gusts up to around 45 miles-per-hour possible. The wind will dissipate later Tuesday evening to 15 to 20 miles-per-hour, with gusts around 30 miles-per-hour, then decreasing to 10 to 15 miles per hour after midnight.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows the Twin Lakes Area to be under abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Any fires which may develop will likely spread rapidly.

To report a fire call 911.
