Darrin Bookout of Mountain Home entered a no contest plea to charges stemming from a vehicle break-in in late June last year and the theft of items from the vehicle including a wallet and was given five years probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last Thursday.
Using surveillance camera footage, police were able to develop Bookout as the person who broke into a co-worker’s truck. In the probable cause affidavit, Bookout was said to have admitted going into the vehicle, but denied taking anything.
In addition, the company were Bookout worked reported he had used a company credit card without authorization. The card was reported used between April 16th and June 14th last year.
In addition to probation, the 40-year-old-Bookout was ordered to pay $225 in restitution. He was sentenced under the provisions of Act 346, meaning if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the court to have his record sealed.
A no contest plea is entered by defendants when they do not want to pled guilty, but are acknowledging prosecutors have enough evidence to convict them at trial.
