Record drug seizure reported, 3 arrested

An ongoing investigation in Izard County has led to a record seizure of methamphetamine and three arrests.

Three Sage residents, 50-year-old Charles Peter Shepherd, 55-year-old Rhonda Gale Peebles and 56-year-old Ricky Lee Schiltz have been charged with felony drug offenses.

Shepherd and Peebles are both charged with trafficking of a controlled substance, Schedule 2 methamphetamine of more than 200 grams.

Schiltz was charged with three counts of maintaining a drug premises and three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two Class Y and one Class B. His bond was set at $250,000, while those for Shepherd and Peebles were set at $20,000 each. All three are set to appear in Izard County Circuit Court.

Their arrests stem from an ongoing investigation resulting in the seizure of approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine.

In addition to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police, and the South-Central Missouri Drug Task Force were engaged in the investigation and arrests.

In addition, Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey says a search warrant was executed March 7th at the residence of 47-year-old Robin Black along Sandy Flats Road in Melbourne. Black, along with 50-year-old Richard Jackson Wells and 39-year-old Donald Lee Martin, both of Melbourne, were all arrested on felony drug charges.

Black and Wells were charged with possession with the purpose to deliver methamphetamine and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, maintaining a drug premises and possession of drug paraphernalia. Martin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bonds for the three were set at $25,000 each. They are all set to appear in Izard County Circuit Court.
