A Mountain Home man, 24-year-old Braydan Anthony Sisk, has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident in which he is alleged to have exited his vehicle in a driveway in Oakland and took the homeowner’s truck earlier this month. The truck was the second vehicle Sisk allegedly took in the same evening.
In the Marion County incident, according to the probable cause affidavit, the owner of the truck’s wife advised a male subject she did not know pulled into her driveway, got out of a car, got into her husband’s truck and took off.
Dispatch advised one of the deputies en route to Oakland the owner of the truck was chasing the stolen vehicle as it traveled eastbound on Oakland Road toward State Highway 5 North. At the intersection of the two roads, the deputy observed the stolen truck approaching with the owner in pursuit.
A traffic stop was initiated, with the driver, later identified as Sisk, pulling to the right side of the road. Sisk exited the truck at gunpoint and complied with the officer’s orders.
Sisk was handcuffed still at gunpoint and placed in the officer’s patrol unit. He was charged with a felony count of theft of property, with his bond set at $10,000.
Earlier the same evening in Baxter County, a Mountain Home man was awakened at his home along County Road 301 to the sounds of barking dogs. When he looked out the window of his home, he did not see anything unusual. Moments later, he heard a car door shut and the engine of a vehicle start. He then saw his car backing slowly out of the driveway.
As he ran outside toward his car, the unknown driver accelerated backward out onto Country Road 301. The vehicle owner reported as he ran across his yard and just as he was about to reach the road, the car accelerated forward striking him. He was thrown by the car, sustaining minor injuries but refusing immediate medical attention.
The vehicle turned left onto Old Tracy Road, and the owner heard it turn right on Highway 5 South, traveling north toward the Sheid-Hopper Bypass.
A BOLO or “be on the lookout” was entered in the Arkansas Crime Information Center system for the vehicle just before 2:00 a.m. About an hour later, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was notified the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Marion County, and Sisk had been taken into custody.
The incident report noted Sisk had apparently run out of gas in the stolen Baxter County vehicle and had taken the truck in Marion County.
