Runoff elections are set for Tuesday across Arkansas.

Locally, incumbent Mike Watts and challenger Shannon Moody are seeking a seat on the Norfork School Board. The two were the top vote getters in a three-person race in the May primary. Both Watts and Moody received 203 votes in the primary election.

Three polling sites are open for the Norfork School Board race, the Lone Rock Baptist Church, Norfork Community Center and the Salesville Community Center.

Polling hours are 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

There is one runoff for the Arkansas House of Representatives in District 83. The district covers most of Newton and Searcy counties, as well as parts of Boone and Carroll counties.

Republicans Donald Ragland and Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape are seeking the seat previously held by Representative David Branscum who resigned in late 2017 to take a post with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s rural development office in Little Rock.

Ragland won a February special election to fill the vacant seat and was sworn in earlier this month. He is seeking a full two-year term in Tuesday’s runoff.

With no other general election candidate, the winner Tuesday will take office in January.

As a reminder, runoff elections for non-partisan judiciary positions will coincide with the November general election, including one seat on the Arkansas Supreme Court. Incumbent Justice Courtney Goodson is being challenged by David Sterling for the seat.

Also in the November runoff, Mountain Home native Melanie Huckaba Martin will face Margaret “Peggy” Egan in a special election for the District 31 State District Court seat in Little Rock. The two were the top vote getters in a primary race among four women. The winner in that race will fill the final two years of an unexpired term.
