The Norfork School Board runoff election ended Tuesday evening with a close race, but the incumbent came out on top. Mike Watts will retain his seat on the Norfork School Board after picking up 171 votes, or 51 percent, to defeat challenger Shannon Moody with 162 votes, or 49 percent.
Watts and Moody were originally the top two vote getters in a three-person race in the May primary. The two candidates were tied with 203 votes each, and Chad Maple was third with 96.
The results are unofficial until they are certified by the Baxter County Election Commission.
