
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) _ A Columbia woman who posted a video of herself hitting her
pet Corgi to the Chinese social media site WeChat has entered a guilty plea.The Columbia Daily Tribune reports 26-year-old Leishi Tang was sentenced to 20 days on home detention after admitting Thursday to a single misdemeanor count of animal abuse. She also faces jail time if she violates the terms of her
probation. As part of the plea, prosecutors dropped two other animal abuse counts, one of them a felony.
Police began investigating after receiving reports of the video, which shows
her scolding the dog for trying to run away as she beats it with a thick rope.
Tang voluntarily surrendered the dog, named Rou Rou, who has since been adopted
by a new owner.
