Calls of a man pointing a gun at a tenant brought Fulton County law enforcement to a motel in Hardy earlier this month.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed Friday, the first call came in on Oct. 3rd when the tenant advised the man, later identified as 52-year-old Jessie Furrow of Hardy, had cocked a small. 22 caliber pocket pistol and pointed it at him. About the same time, the hotel manager also called advising a man had just pulled a gun on a tenant.
The manager said Furrow saw her talking to the tenant and “went nuts and pulled a gun.”
When law enforcement arrived, Furrow said he was en route from Hardy on U.S. Highway 63 when he saw a small brown car on the side of the road with its flashers activated. Behind the wheel was the hotel tenant. Furrow said when he went to go around the vehicle, the car pulled out in front of his, almost making him wreck.
Furrow said the man in the small brown car followed him to the hotel and got out of his vehicle. Furrow said he took the gun out of his truck, racked it as though he was putting a bullet in the chamber and pointed it at the tenant.
The tenant said at this point, he thought Furrow was going to kill him, adding he had never been in a brown car. Instead, he said he had been at the motel the entire day, and the only vehicle he owns is a red pickup.
Furrow allegedly consented to a search of his nearby residence, where the gun was located and loaded with one round in the chamber. A bottle containing a small amount of marijuana was also found.
At the Fulton County Detention Center, Furrow is reported to have said he was misunderstood. Instead of seeing the motel tenant in the vehicle alongside the highway, it was a large individual who looked like him. He said he did pull the gun out and rack it, but placed it on the hood of his truck.
Furrow has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening. His bond was set at $10,000.
