A man who crashed his vehicle while trying to outrun police entered a guilty plea to charges stemming from the early June incident and was given five years probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 48-year-old William Wittkofski of Mountain Home refused to stop when a Cotter police officer tried to pull him over for having expired license tags.

The officer reported Wittkofski “aggressively accelerated” to try and get away. He eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed it on Denton Ferry Road.

Wittkofski was charged with felony fleeing and a number of traffic violations.
