Local basketball teams play final games before Thanksgiving

Basketball makes up the local Tuesday schedule.

As Izard County hosts Cross County, the state championship boys’ team from 2008 will be recognized following the junior girls’ game. That Cougar team went 35-6 and was 26-0 against Class 1A teams. Izard County won the state championship game over Nevada in Hot Springs.

In other high school basketball, Norfork’s girls travel to Jonesboro for a benefit game, Flippin makes the trip to Calico Rock, Bruno-Pyatt heads to Omaha, the Bakersfield boys travel to Gainesville, Dora’s girls host Mountain View-Liberty, Salem entertains Cedar Ridge, St. Joe makes the trip to Lead Hill, Marshall hosts Quitman, Timbo heads to Pleasant Plains to face Midland, and Mountain View travels to Hoxie.

Four of Mountain Home’s junior high squads will be on the road as they meet Valley Springs. The seventh grade girls’ game tips off at 4:30 followed by the seventh grade boys and both freshmen contests.
