
High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home wraps up the first half of conference play. It will be the first of three consecutive road trips for the Bombers and Lady Bombers as they meet West Memphis.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 11-8 on the season and 3-3 in the 5A-East. The Lady Bombers are coming off a game in which they invoked the mercy rule on Searcy. West Memphis is 10-6 and 3-3. The Lady Blue Devils defeated Greene County Tech on Tuesday.
The Mountain Home boys are 7-11 and 2-4. The Bombers edged out Searcy three nights ago. West Memphis is 16-4 and 4-2. The Blue Devils most recently squeaked by Tech.
The junior varsity games tip off at 5 p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy hosts Nettleton, Jonesboro travels to Marion, and Paragould makes the short trip across the city to meet Tech.
The Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic will get back underway with two area boys’ teams in action. Gainesville faces the host school in the consolation bracket at 5:30, and Forsyth takes on Fair Grove in the semifinals at 8:30.
In other high school basketball, Cotter heads to Decatur, Flippin travels to Eureka Springs, Yellville-Summit makes the trip to Fayetteville to play Haas Hall Academy, Bruno-Pyatt heads to Calico Rock, Lutie travels to Koshkonong, Viola entertains Omaha, Salem makes the trip to Monette to face Buffalo Island Central, Izard County is home against Western Grove, Melbourne hosts Bay, Marshall heads to Valley Springs, Lead Hill entertains Deer, and Bergman travels to Point Lookout to meet the School of the Ozarks.
