
A member of the Mountain Home boys’ basketball team is recovering after having surgery Friday night to repair a compound fracture. Bomber junior Sam Bryant suffered the injury in his leg during a junior varsity game at West Memphis.
The incident occurred with just over a minute left in the opening period. Mountain Home head varsity coach Josh Fulcher was on the Bombers’ bench during the j.v. contest, and he says Bryant was going to the hoop for a layup attempt.

Sam’s father, Scott Bryant, was also at the game. Sam was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, and Scott says the surgery went well.

The remainder of the j.v. game ended up getting cancelled. Sam’s teammates were visibly concerned about his well-being, but Fulcher says he was mostly in good spirits.

Fulcher says Bryant’s full recovery is estimated to be in six months, and physical therapy is also expected.
