
On the eve of the deadline for filing for school board positions, two candidates submitted their paperwork to the clerks’ offices in Baxter and Fulton counties.
Kenny Crunkleton filed for the Position 1 seat at Cotter. That seat is now held by Renata Dewey.
At Norfork, incumbent Levi Woods has filed for the Position 2 seat.
In Fulton County, incumbent Burton Yarnell has filed for the Position 4 seat at Salem, and incumbent Ken Cotter has filed for the Position 4 seat at Viola.
The filing period closes at noon on Wednesday.
The school elections will be held on May 21st for those districts opting to hold voting on the primary date.
Under Arkansas’ relatively new law, districts have the option of holding their election on either the primary or the general election date.
Those interested in seeking positions on school boards may pick up an application and signature packet from their respective county clerk’s office. Candidates need to collect a minimum of 20 verifiable signatures on their petitions.
