Regional play ends Saturday in Arkansas

High school basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule as regional tournament play comes to an end in the Natural State.

Three local teams will wrap up the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Danville. In the third place games, Cotter’s girls tip off at noon against Hector, and Flippin’s boys meet Mountainburg at 1:30. The Yellville-Summit boys will face Eureka Springs for the championship at 7:30.

The Class 1A Region 2 Tournametn will finish its run at Calico Rock. In the third place games, Mammoth Spring’s girls get underway at noon against Maynard, and the host Pirates take on Western Grove at 1:30. The championship games are set for the evening starting with the girls’ game between Norfork and Viola at 6:00, and the Izard County boys play Hillcrest at 7:30.

Melbourne’s girls will take part in the championship game of the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Rector. The Lady Bearkatz will be paired with Earle at 6:00.

Two area teams will compete for third place in the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament at Mount Vernon-Enola. The Rural Special girls tip off at noon against Concord, and Timbo’s boys meet Bradford at 1:30.

Both of Valley Springs’ teams will compete in the finals of the Class 3A Region 1 tournament at Mountain View. The Lady Tigers will face the host Lady Yellowjackets at 6:00, and the Valley Springs boys take on Waldron at 7:30.

Harrison’s girls will play for the title of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Morrilton. The Lady Goblins will tip off at 6:00 against Berryville.

Both of Jasper’s teams will finish the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at County Line High School in Branch. The Pirate boys will play the New School for third place at 1:30, and the Jasper girls be matched up with Alpena in the championship game at 6:00.

District play continues in Missouri as Dora’s boys will compete for the title of the Class 1, District 3 Tournament at Cabool. The top-seeded Falcons face Eminence at 2:00.

Both of Branson’s teams will take on Springfield Glendale to begin the Class 5, District 11 Tournament at Kickapoo High School in Springfield. The girls’ game tips off at 1:00 followed by the boys’ contest.
