A loaded .380 caliber handgun was reportedly discovered during a traffic stop in Mountain Home Tuesday leading to the arrest of three individuals on drug-related charges. One of the three was a parolee, with a second having an active arrest warrant for revocation of a suspended sentence.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says shortly after 7:30 Tuesday evening, a member of his force stopped a pickup truck in the 4000 block of Arkansas State Highway 5 south for failing to use a turn signal.

The vehicle was driven by 32-year-old Joshua David Dunn of Norfork. Passengers were 40-year-old Kristy Sue Wood of Mountain Home and 36-year-old Joseph Michael Lopez of Republic.

Dunn is a parolee with the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, with a search warrant on file, while Wood had an active arrest warrant.

During the course of a search, approximately .4 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe used to smoke the illegal substance were discovered under the front passenger seat. Lopez claimed to be in possession of the handgun, while none of the three would claim possession of the drugs or paraphernalia.

All are facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, while Lopez also faces a charge of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. Wood also faces a felony charge of revocation of a bench warrant and Dunn a misdemeanor for failure to signal.

Bonds for Dunn and Wood were set at $2,500 on charges stemming from the traffic stop, while Lopez’s was set at $5,000. Wood is being held without bond on the revocation warrant.
