A man who last listed a Mountain Home address when booked into the Baxter County Detention Center was put on probation for six years after pleading guilty to stealing a four-wheeler from under the deck of a home in Gamaliel. Forty-eight-year-old Jason Krumsick entered his plea during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last week.

The four-wheeler, which was reported stolen in early August last year, was equipped with a 25-gallon sprayer and a broadcast spreader.

The day before the theft, Baxter County deputies had hunted for Krumsick in the area on another matter, but were unable to find him. Investigators were told Krumsick – who has been the focus of a number of manhunts through the years – was suspected of fleeing to Bakersfield.

Lawmen from Arkansas and Missouri converged on a Bakersfield address and took Krumsick into custody. He was reported to have admitted to investigators he did steal the four-wheeler and abandoned it on the side of the road.

The ATV was found in Arkansas, about 2 miles south of the state line on the east side of State Highway 101. According to the probable cause affidavit, the four-wheeler would not start due to the fact a plug had blown out causing most of the engine oil to drain.

During Krumsick’s court appearance, as the facts of the case were being presented by 14th Judicial District Deputy Prosecutor Kerry Chism, Krumsick quibbled about the engine. He said he “didn’t know anything about an engine blowing up.”

Despite his contention he was unaware of the damage to the engine, Krumsick has paid victim restitution of $1,500 to cover repairs to the ATV.

Through the years, Krumsick has been charged with mainly drug-related offenses in Baxter and a number of other Arkansas counties.
