A Mountain Home High School student has been killed and four other people injured in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night. Seventeen-year-old Derrick Adams was killed in the accident. One passenger was airlifted to a Springfield hospital, while three other passengers were taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Marion County Deputy Coroner Jim Collins told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news the accident happened at approximately 9:30 on State Highway 202 in the Oakland area, about 2 miles west of the Baxter-Marion County line. He says the vehicle driven by Adams appeared to have left the highway, struck a utility pole and then a tree.

The names of those injured or other details about the accident have not been released. The Arkansas State Police is investigating the crash.

Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says extra professionals have brought in to help support the students.

Adams was in his junior year.

Funeral arrangements for 17-year-old Derrick Adams are pending at Roller Funeral Home.
