A Flippin man, who was arrested Tuesday night by Baxter County Sheriff's deputies on drug charges, has been released after posting bond. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says 36 year old Kelly Joe Hancock has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of criminal use of a prohibited weapon. He was released from the Baxter County jail after posting $15,000.
According to the sheriff, a deputy from his department stopped a vehicle, in which Hancock was a passenger, for a traffic violation on U.S. Highway 62B in Mountain Home and saw a firearm in open view inside the vehicle. Because the unidentified driver was on active supervised probation, a search was conducted. A plastic bag containing about 3.2 grams of suspected meth was found in Hancocks right pocket and he was also found to be in possession of metal knuckles, which is prohibited by law.
Kelly Joe Hancock is scheduled to appear in circuit court February 23.
