Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule, as the Mountain Home High School teams play their first games since the season opener two weeks ago. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will start a three-day run in the Branson Battle at the Border, as both teams will be paired with Bolivar.

Both Mountain Home teams come into the opening games with a record of 1-0. The Bombers and Lady Bombers started the season Nov. 21 at the Hangar with victories over Fayetteville.

The girls’ game tips off at 4 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest. Both games can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Two local high school teams will wrap up pool play in the Fordland Invitational Tournament. Lutie’s boys will tip off at 4 against Chadwick, and the Dora girls will face the School of the Ozarks at 7.

The Viola girls will be in Walnut Ridge for their first game in the Williams Baptist University High School Tournament at Walnut Ridge. After a first round bye, the Lady Longhorns will meet Corning in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m.

Izard County’s boys will be in Jonesboro to compete in the 35th-annual Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic. The Cougars will take on Har-Ber at 5:30.

In other high school action, Bakersfield hosts Riverview Christian, Gainesville entertains Koshkonong, and Dora’s boys travel to Myrtle to meet Couch.

Five of Mountain Home’s junior high squads will be at Bomber Gymnasium, as Wynne comes in to the Twin Lakes Area. In the main gym, the seventh grade girls tip off at 4:30 followed by both freshmen contests. In the auxiliary gym, the seventh grade boys start at 4:30, and the seventh grade boys’ junior varsity game will follow.
